As a marine biologist, my interests are to investigate how biotic and abiotic factors influence
patterns and processes in reef environments and how these relationships vary spatially.
Since my master’s thesis, I’ve been working with reef fishes both in tropical and subtropical
regions. I also have interest in diverse aspects of bottom-up and top-down processes
controlling the dynamics of the benthic compartment. In this way, I developed some
experience working in subtidal and intertidal environments analyzing the effects of
herbivores on substrate cover, and how those are distributed in space. Lastly, I’m
particularly interested in key-species, such as sea urchins (and fishes) and part of my work
is based on the macroecological patterns of these groups. Currently, I’m part of LECAR
team as a post-doctoral researcher (Universidade Federal Fluminense - UFF) and
responsible for the spatial-temporal evaluation of benthic cover dynamics in the Arraial do
Cabo marine reserve (RESEXMar) within the Projeto Costão.
